HIGGS DECIMATES THE FIELD IN ALBANY!

Dustin Higgs has stormed to a dominant fourth victory of the season by destroying the field in round four of the Marri Park Tavern WA Super Sedan Series at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway.

Higgs kicked off his night with a huge win in the opening heat of the night, crossing the line twelve seconds clear of Lukas Lampert in second, and Tristan Green in third.

Rob Knox was too strong for the field in heat two, leading home Terry Green in second, and Ryan Huxtable in third.

Higgs outdid himself in heat three, this time winning by thirteen seconds. Tristan Green came out on top of great battle to claim second, from Knox in third.

Nathan Thiele was victorious in heat four leading home Albany’s own Glynn McBeath in second, and Ryan Huxtable in third.

Tristan Green got his win in the penultimate heat of the night, after a great battle Green got the best of Knox in second, with Mat McMahon rounding out the podium in third.

Another big win for Higgs in the final heat of the night crossing the line clear of Thiele in second and McBeath in third.

Higgs was joined by Knox on the front row for the twenty lap main event, with Tristan Green and Thiele set to launch from the second row.

Higgs got the jump at the start and set off into the lead. Knox was in second, from Green in third and Thiele in fourth.

Green’s race ended at the start of lap two when he spun in turn two and retired to the infield.

From the restart Higgs set off into the lead from Knox, Thiele and McBeath before the caution light was out again on lap two.

McMahon spun in turn four leaving Hambley and Huxtable with nowhere to go ending all three drivers race on the back of the tow truck.

Higgs led again from the restart. Knox chased hard in second from Thiele, McBeath, Terry Green and Ian Wright as the remaining six cars on the track.

Higgs began to stretch his legs and got out to a straight away lead over Knox, when Knox entered turns three and four too hot, and nearly spun before pulling off a great save, which ultimately cost him second position.

Thiele took second, Knox got going again third with Green hot on his hammer in fourth.
Thiele and Knox drove away from Green, and as they got on to the back of a lap car Thiele’s sudden change of line saw Knox having to take evasive action to avoid contact and forced him into a spin.

Knox was deemed as the cause of the stoppage by the stewards and sent to the rear of the field for the final ten lap stretch to the chequered flag.

Higgs led at the restart from Thiele, McBeath, Green, Knox and Wright.

Higgs set a frenetic pace up front and began to build a mammoth lead.

The battle raged on for third, fourth and fifth, as McBeath was under pressure from Green and Knox behind him.

Green took third position from McBeath with a perfect slide job in turns one and two. Knox followed him through to take fourth position from McBeath with four laps remaining.

At this point Higgs had stretched his advantage up to two thirds of a lap as he ranged up on the battle between Green and Knox to put them a lap down.

Green half spun, giving up third to Knox as Higgs lapped both of them in the space of half a lap.

Higgs went on to cross the line more than twelve seconds clear of Thiele in second who was the only other driver to finish on the lead lap.

Knox rounded out the podium, crossing the line in third, ahead of Green in fourth.
McBeath secured his first top five finish of the season in front of his home town fans, ahead of the only other finisher Wright in sixth.
